Product Description

Features of the HiBoost CommLink 20K Open-Floor system

  • Coverage up to 50,000 ft² of open floor space in high-bay buildings (with strong outside signal).
  • Built around a suspended four-antenna panel array: four Top Signal EDGE 5G panel antennas mounted on stainless steel articulating mounts, each aimed in 90 degree increments, so the array broadcasts across the full 360 degrees from a single point in the ceiling.
  • The array hangs from a single, central ceiling drop and feeds from a 100‑foot cable run, so a building with 20 to 30‑foot ceilings needs just one cable pull instead of four.
  • This Open-Floor kit, available only from Powerful Signal, arrives as a complete, pre-engineered system with every antenna, mount, splitter, and cable specified and matched. There are no antenna options to weigh and no parts to source separately.
  • Includes the 30″-tall Top Signal high-gain omnidirectional donor antenna, which sends and receives signal for all carriers in all directions with 4 to 6 dBi of gain, 58 percent more than our standard omni antenna.
  • The CommLink 20K amplifier is a compact, wall-mountable metal enclosure with integrated thermal protection and oscillation detection.
  • LCD touch screen for local control and gain adjustment, with both automatic (AGC) and manual (MGC) gain controls.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot your booster with HiBoost’s Signal Supervisor smartphone app and web portal.
  • Built for 24/7 continuous duty, supporting simultaneous multi-user voice and data operation.
  • Includes commercial-grade antennas and components throughout.
  • Carrier agnostic: Works with all major US and Canadian carriers.
  • Improves 5G and 4G/LTE service for voice, text, and data. (Learn more about 5G compatibility.)

The HiBoost CommLink 20K is a commercial-grade cell signal amplifier delivering up to 72 dB of system gain. It improves voice and data to reduce dropped calls and missed emails and texts, keeping your business, your employees, and your customers connected with a stronger cell signal.

The HiBoost CommLink 20K Open-Floor system, part of Powerful Signal’s exclusive Top Signal Series, is the configuration we reach for when a customer calls about a small to midsized warehouse. Conventional booster kits scatter multiple inside antennas across a floor plan, which is the right answer in an office full of walls. A warehouse has almost no walls to fight, so the limiting factor becomes how much open floor a single broadcast point can reach.

This kit answers that by hanging all four inside antennas together in one array, each panel turned a quarter turn from its neighbors. Panel antennas are directional, so four of them arranged this way push amplified signal outward in every horizontal direction at once from a high, unobstructed, central mounting point. In a clear-span building that geometry covers far more square footage than the same four antennas spread across the same ceiling.

Who is the HiBoost CommLink 20K Open-Floor for?

  • Warehouses and distribution centers with open, clear-span floor plans.
  • Manufacturing floors, fabrication shops, and assembly plants.
  • Hangars, equipment barns, indoor arenas, and gymnasiums.
  • High-bay buildings with ceilings 20 to 30 feet high, where a wall-mounted panel antenna sits too low to reach across the floor. (For higher ceilings, extend the array’s drop so it hangs in that same range.)
  • Metal buildings and other structures whose materials block outside cell signal (steel, concrete, low-E glass).
  • Facilities where forklift operators, pickers, and floor supervisors depend on cellular handheld devices, scanners, and push-to-talk apps.
  • Sites in remote or rural locations with weak cell service, where a business park or terminal sits well outside town.

This system is designed for open interior space. If your building is divided into offices, cold rooms, or racked aisles that block signal between zones, a kit with its antennas distributed across the floor plan will serve you better. Call us and we’ll tell you honestly which one fits your building.

Why four panel antennas in a 90‑degree array?

Four-antenna Top Signal EDGE panel antenna array on stainless steel articulating mounts with ceiling drop bracket
The antenna array: 4 Top Signal EDGE 5G panel antennas on stainless steel articulating mounts, suspended from a ceiling drop bracket and aimed at 90 ° angles. (Click to enlarge.)

A panel antenna is directional. It broadcasts forward, concentrating its energy in the direction it faces. Mounted on a wall, it throws signal across the room and wastes very little of it into the wall behind.

In a warehouse there often is no useful wall. The building may be hundreds of feet across, and a panel mounted at the perimeter runs out of reach long before it gets to the far side. Mounting it high in the middle of the space solves the reach problem.

Four panels, each rotated 90 degrees from the next, form an antenna array. Their combined patterns overlap into full 360‑degree horizontal coverage radiating outward from one high point. Each panel still gets the focus that makes a directional antenna efficient, and the array as a whole behaves like a single broadcast point at the center of the building.

Hanging the array also puts it above the racking, equipment, and inventory that would otherwise absorb the signal. Height is what buys you distance in an open building.

Mounting height matters. The array is designed to hang so the panels sit roughly 20 to 30 feet above the floor. Lower than that and the panels shoot over less ground before the pattern reaches the floor. Higher than that and the signal attenuates (weakens) too much before it reaches phones and cellular devices, so in a taller building you should extend the drop to bring the array back into that range.

Because the splitter mounts at the array itself, the four antenna feeds are 2‑foot jumpers rather than long individual runs. That leaves you with a single 100‑foot pull from the amplifier.

How the HiBoost CommLink 20K Open-Floor works

The high-gain omni antenna on your roof receives cell signal from every tower around you and sends it down through a lightning surge protector and 50 feet of coax to the CommLink 20K amplifier mounted inside. The amplifier boosts that signal and pushes it back out over a single 100‑foot run to the antenna array suspended from your ceiling, where a 4-way splitter feeds all four panels through short jumpers. The panels rebroadcast the amplified signal across the floor below.

The system works in both directions at once. The same path carries the signal from every phone and cellular tablet in the building back up to the tower, which is what lets a handheld device deep inside a steel building hold a call it would otherwise drop.

One installation note worth repeating: never coil the excess coax. A coil of cable behaves like an inductor and degrades the signal you just paid to amplify. If you have extra cable after your run, snake it back and forth in long, flat runs instead.

Works with all major cellular carriers

The HiBoost CommLink 20K works with all major wireless carriers, including Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Boost Mobile, UScellular, GCI Alaska, and most others.

It operates on common cellular frequencies.

  • 700 MHz (SMH) bands 12, 13, 17.
  • 850 MHz (Cellular 850) band 5.
  • 1700/2100 MHz (AWS) band 4.
  • 1900 MHz (PCS) bands 2, 25.

How much area will the HiBoost CommLink 20K Open-Floor cover?

With strong outside cell signal (−95 dBm RSRP or greater) in open, unobstructed floor space, the HiBoost CommLink 20K Open-Floor can cover up to 50,000 ft² with 700 MHz signal. That figure assumes a clear-span building: high ceilings, no interior partitions, and nothing tall enough between the array and the walls to block the broadcast.

Those conditions are what make the number possible, and they are worth taking seriously. The same amplifier and the same four antennas in a partitioned building cover far less, because every wall between the antenna and the phone costs you signal. As your building fills with racking, mezzanines, or cold rooms, plan on coverage closer to what a conventional four-antenna CommLink 20K kit delivers.

As outside signal weakens, so does your coverage:

  • Strong outside signal (−95 dBm RSRP, 5 bars): up to 50,000 ft².
  • Fair outside signal (−105 dBm RSRP, 3 bars): up to 30,000 ft².
  • Weak outside signal (−115 dBm RSRP, 1 bar): up to 10,000 ft².

Coverage areas referenced on this page are at 700 MHz; higher-frequency bands attenuate faster through walls and reach less area.

The size of the coverage area depends on many factors, including:

  • Outside cell signal strength received by the donor antenna.
  • How open your floor is, and the height at which you hang the array above it.
  • Cellular frequencies used by the carrier and the device. (Lower-frequency LTE and 800 MHz signals travel farther than higher-frequency AWS and PCS signals.)

Substandard or inadequate conditions in any of these factors will reduce your coverage area.

Powerful Signal has years of experience designing and installing cellular amplification systems. Please call us at 435-634-6800 or contact us online, and we’ll be happy to calculate the coverage area this system will provide in your building and answer any other questions about this amplifier.
