What’s a MIMO antenna?
A MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) antenna sends and receives signal through two or more simultaneous data streams, providing better signal strength and quality than SISO (single input, single output) antennas.
An LTE/5G 4×4 MIMO antenna may be the right solution for you if:
You need to improve signal reception on a router, hotspot, or modem that converts cellular signal to WiFi.
Your router or other device has four SMA, TS9, or U.fl/MHF ports.
The outdoor signal at your location is fair or moderate.
You need faster download speeds for streaming videos and downloading files.
You need improved signal for cellular frequencies that aren’t amplified by cell signal boosters (like band 71 and 5G bands between 2300 and 4200 MHz).

What kind of results can I expect from this MIMO antenna?
Most cellular routers include their own set of antennas. Typically these are “rubber duck” or paddle-style dipole antennas that send and receive cellular signal right at the router. If cellular signal is weak or fair where your router is, the Poynting XPOL-24 MIMO antenna can improve your reception and cellular data speeds, often significantly.
To test the improvement in reception, we took an InHand FWA02 5G cellular router to a location with weak cellular signal. We assessed the router with its six omnidirectional dipole antennas and with four of the antennas replaced by an XPOL-24 connected by 5-foot runs of TS-195 coax cable.
This test was conducted on Thursday, , between and AM MDT at Harrisburg, Utah, with a T-Mobile 5G SIM card. The T-Mobile tower was 2.4 miles to the northeast, with hills between the tower and the test site. Speed tests were done with a Motorola Edge 2022 Android smartphone using the Speedtest by Ookla app.

In our test, the Poynting XPOL-24 MIMO antenna provided 10 times the signal strength, 31⁄5 times the download speed, and 2½ times the upload speed of the router’s factory antennas. Average ping (latency) was also reduced 42%, download ping was reduced 67%, and jitter (variation in latency) was reduced 83%.
