Will a cell phone signal booster help a WiFi hotspot?

A wireless hotspot is a device that converts cellular signal to WiFi. With a hotspot device, laptops, tablets, smart TVs, and other devices that only work with WiFi signal can also use cellular data.

Hotspot devices are available with model names like MiFi, Jetpack, Nighthawk, Peplink, and others. A hotspot requires a SIM card and an active data plan from a cellular provider like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, UScellular, etc. You can purchase a hotspot device directly from your carrier or purchase a third-party hotspot and add a SIM card from your carrier.

A cell phone signal booster for your home or RV will improve the strength of cellular signal and increase the data speed provided by a cellular/WiFi hotspot.

We recommend placing the hotspot about 8 to 10 feet from the signal booster’s inside antenna, then adjusting that distance until the hotspot is providing optimum signal inside your home. If you have a mobile booster (like the weBoost Drive Reach or SureCall Fusion2Go XR), your hotspot will need to start closer to the inside antenna.

Do not place the hotspot right up against the booster’s inside antenna, and do not try to connect the booster to the hotspot with a cable; doing either of these may overload and damage the hotspot.
