Why does my cell phone drop calls?
We’ve all experienced dropped cell phone calls: You’re talking to a family member, friend, of business contact fine and then…nothing. There are two major reasons why this happens:
First, since you are using a mobile phone, you can move to a location where cell signal is nonexistent or not strong enough to be usable. This takes place most often when you’re in a moving vehicle, but can also happen just by walking around a corner of a building.
Second, if you’re talking at a fixed location and your call drops, you might be experiencing a tower overload. The signal from the local cell tower fluctuates constantly due to the number of users who are connected to the tower. When user load gets too high, the tower may drop your phone, taking your call with it.
Keep in mind that these situations can also affect the person you are talking to: They may have dropped the call on their end.
